The Queen’s unheard nuclear war speech
The power of the metaphor
I’m so proud to have been asked to attend my school prize giving ceremony this evening as the guest of honour, handing out prizes to the students who have achieved great things in the past academic year.
It was quite a shock to receive an email from my old Headmaster (my first thought was, ‘what have I done this time?’) inviting me to the evening as the ‘boy who done good’ after leaving KLB exactly a decade ago.
Tonight is especially fitting as the prize giving ceremony is where I had my first real public speaking experience, and managed to insult a local judge in the process (ask me about it when we meet!).
If I can come back from that and end up running my own public speaking business, it’s proof that you really can achieve anything if you set your mind to it!
My speech tonight mentions that very first talk that I gave ten years ago, and a lot more besides. I’ll post pictures on my twitter feed, if for the first time ever, I am allowed to use my mobile phone in the school hall!
