Insensys is a global supplier of fibre optic measurement systems. The organisation is growing rapidly and clear, concise and confident communication will be key to its success.


The Insensys Learning and Development team were seeking a supplier that could craft and deliver an ongoing communication skills curriculum that would drive a positive communications culture at all levels within the business.

The Tailored Communication Skills Solution for Insensys

Listening:

Working with the Director of Learning and Development, we researched the vision and specific learning outcomes required for each area of the organisation. We understood the individuals within each learning group and liaised with them via online research to understand their own feelings and requirements from the communication skills training too.

Thinking:

After considering the findings from the research, we proposed a two-level curriculum. Each level would have specific, tailored sessions focusing on key skills that were relevant to different areas of the business. Areas covered included foundation skills as well as more advanced techniques such as storytelling, making technical concepts clear and persuasion and influence.

Planning:

All of the sessions were tailored to ensure that the delivery style, content and examples were directly-related to the participants’ roles and objectives. Pre-work was provided for all participants and this was used to enhance the training effectiveness further, ensuring that the learning directly addressed challenges that were ‘live’ within the business at the time of delivery.

Doing:

Each curriculum was delivered within a calendar year, with goal-setting and time for reflection and feedback between sessions. All participants received a 30 minute online coaching session after the training, to allow them to feedback on and refine their new skills even further after using them in the ‘real world’. Beyond the measurable learning outcomes, a real success of the sessions was the opportunity it provided for teams from across the business to bond, learn and grow together. A win for both learning and corporate culture too!
