Quick notes – Delivering your presentation

Why choose in-house public speaking training?
This article is a 4 minute read. Enjoy!
It might feel like some people just have ‘the gift’, and can speak excellently in public with no preparation or nerves.
It’s a lie!
Great speakers aren’t born, they have developed through lots of practice, experience and…
Reflection.
Reflection is a great way to identify areas to focus on, and (best of all!), to recognise our successes too. (Yes, I am reflecting in the photo!).
This quick notes article is designed to help you to reflect on how far you have come. Please, grab a drink, take 5 minutes and have a think through the questions below.
Enjoy reflecting… and don’t forget to pat yourself on the back for all that you have achieved!
You are brilliant.

This is a quick recap of some of the key points that we discussed to ensure that we present confidently and clearly to an audience. You will also have had the chance to practice them during our time together on the Foundation Presentation Skills course.
If you are here and haven't yet taken part in the course, then firstly, well done for finding this post! Secondly, what are you waiting for? Find out more about our foundation presentation skills course here.
5 questions to ask after your next presentation
Being self-critical is easy. Giving your next presentation a balanced, considered review is much harder, but it ensures that you recognise success and continue to grow as a speaker.
Whether you are a developing speaker, or a Manager supporting your team, use these simple questions to drive useful conversations about presentation performance.
Did I achieve my goal?
There is likely one thing that you wanted your audience to think, feel or do after they heard your presentation. Did your performance and content inspire them to do this?
What two things did I do well?
Start by recognising your successes. Even if you don't feel this was your strongest performance, you will have succeeded at something. What was it?

What one thing could I do better next time?
Pick one area that you felt you underperformed in. Make it a focus for your presentation delivery.
How am I going to do it better?
It's not enough to know what you want to change. What steps will you take to develop? Who or what can help you to grow?
How have I grown since my last presentation?
Public speaking mastery is a journey - recognise your growth and highlight something that you did better than last time. Enjoy looking back at how far you have come already!
